Welfare of Managed Animals Funding Call Open to Applications

BBSRC supports research involving the use of animals and are committed to ensuring high standards of welfare for all managed animals (including farmed, laboratory, and companion). This annual call is funded through BBSRC’s responsive mode. Research in a variety of fields can contribute to the aim of a proposal; to fit within this priority, applications should state clearly the likely benefits of the research for animal welfare.

Funding can be used for:

Research projects, including technology development projects.

Equipment or use of existing facilities.

New facilities or infrastructure.

Research networks and coordination.

Summer schools.

To be eligible, applications must be made by a Principal Investigator (PI) who is eligible for BBSRC funding. The PI must be a responsive mode grant holder, an initiative grant holder, a project leader at a BBSRC Institute or a recipient of a fellowship award from BBSRC.

Projects can range in size up to £2 million and last up to five years. BBSRC can award 80% of the full economic costs of the research, and the applicant organisation must agree to find the balance.

Applications must be submitted by the closing date of 13 January 2021 (16:00 GMT).
