ViiV Healthcare Global HIV and COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund

ViiV Healthcare Global HIV and COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund

ViiV Healthcare launched the Global HIV and COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund in April 2020. The fund will be divided equally between two programmes and grants will be available through a request for proposal (RfP) process:

The Research Emergency Response Fund will make available funding to support scientific research on the impact of COVID-19 on people living with HIV.

The Community Emergency Response Fund will make available funding to support community-based activities that address the specific challenges faced by people living with HIV during this pandemic.

Within the framework of the Research Emergency Response Fund, ViiV Healthcare is seeking basic and clinical research proposals for studies within specific areas of interest. Successful proposals will be awarded grants to undertake independent research through the ViiV Healthcare Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS) programme.

The request for proposals has three priority areas focusing on COVID-19 in people living with HIV:

1. Epidemiology and real-world data (RWD).

2. Health care systems management initiatives addressing patient care and outcomes in the COVID-19 environment.

3. Biomarkers indicative of disease susceptibility, severity, progression, or mechanism.

Applicants must be affiliated with a clinical institution and are strongly encouraged to partner with a researcher with clinical experience in the field of HIV. The applicant’s setting(s) can include a variety of health care settings and is not limited to hospitals and clinics. The HIV & COVID-19 RfP is a global call.

The budget for the Research Emergency Response Fund is up to £1.5 million.

Applications must be submitted to ViiV Healthcare by the deadline of 18 May 2020.
