US-UK Fulbright Commission Postgraduate Scholarships Open for Application

The US-UK Fulbright Commission administers a range of awards and exchange programmes to enable UK undergraduates, postgraduates, academics and professionals to study and conduct research in the United States. The Fulbright Postgraduate Scholarships provide funding towards tuition fees and general maintenance costs for UK citizens due to commence postgraduate study at a university in the United States in 2021.

The awards are available to UK citizens resident anywhere except the United States, including Irish citizens normally resident in Northern Ireland and citizens with dual UK nationality with any country other than the United States.

Applicants will be responsible for making a separate application to their chosen US institution. Applicants do not need to have applied to a US university before submitting a Fulbright application, but must receive an offer of admission from the institution nominated in the proposal to receive a Fulbright grant if successful.

In support of its aim to foster cultural understanding between the UK and the USA, the Fulbright programme will generally give preference to applicants who do not have extensive experience (six months or longer) in the USA. All Fulbright Award recipients must enter the United States on an Exchange Visitor (J-1) visa under a US Department of State programme.
