UK-South Korea Collaborative R&D Competition
Closing Date: 06/07/2022
UK registered businesses can apply for funding for the purpose of developing innovative R&D proposals with South Korea.
This competition is administered by Innovate UK (IUK); the UK’s innovation agency. IUK works with people, companies and partner organisations to de-risk, enable and support innovation, and promote UK economic growth. IUK is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) – a non-departmental public body, funded by a grant-in-aid from the UK government through the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
The competition is jointly operated by IUK and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) – the government agency that supports South Korean organisations interested in international collaboration, giving them access to expertise and supporting their growth.
The aim of this competition is to fund collaborative research and development (CR&D) projects focused on industrial research. Proposals must include at least one partner from the UK and one partner from South Korea.
IUK wishes to fund a portfolio of projects, across a variety of technologies and sectors. Projects must focus on one or more of the following sectors:
- Advanced manufacturing and materials.
- Artificial intelligence.
- Clean energy: specifically battery technologies, hydrogen mobility technologies, and future vehicles.
Projects are expected to result in a new product, industrial process or service, be innovative, involve a technological risk, and have high market potential in the participating countries.
