Target Ovarian Cancer Translational Research Award Opens for 2019

Target Ovarian Cancer is a national ovarian cancer charity that is involved in the support of women diagnosed with the disease.

A new round of the Charity’s Translational Research Awards is now open.

The Translational Research Awards are given to accelerate the development of research projects that will provide patient benefit from established research findings, including (but not limited to):

Identify new drug targets within subtypes of ovarian cancer and develop new targeted treatments.

Understand why tumours develop resistance to therapies, developing strategies to prevent and overcome resistance.

Develop new immunologic approaches to treating ovarian cancer.

Understand the effectiveness of existing drugs against different tumour subtypes.

Understand the effectiveness of specific drug combinations in subtypes.

Research to predict which patients will benefit from chemotherapy.

Develop appropriate treatments for older patients.

Identify prognostic markers that indicate response to treatment.

Develop robust surgical trials to validate new technologies and optimise treatments.

The aim of the scheme is to optimise and develop more effective and less toxic treatments for ovarian cancer, with emphasis on treatments that will improve overall survival. Target Ovarian Cancer will consider support for any research of relevance to optimising or developing new treatments.

The principal investigator (PI) must be resident and eligible to work in a UK university, hospital, clinical trials unit or affiliated research institute. The project must be carried out in the UK.

Awards of up to £200,000 are available.

The deadline for outline submissions is 28 May 2019 (12:00).

Invitations to submit a full application will be made in June 2019, with a deadline in August 2019. Successful applicants will be informed by the end of November 2019.
