STFC/UKSA Rocketry Research, Training and Teaching Hub (R2T2) Scheme
Closing Date: 24/10/2022
Support to enable research organisations to develop and deliver rocketry PhDs, with both academic and skills-based elements, as part of the R2T2 Hub.
The Rocketry Research, Training and Teaching Hub (R2T2) Scheme has been announced by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and the UK Space Agency (UKSA) to enable research organisations to develop and deliver rocketry PhDs as part of the R2T2 Hub. The R2T2 Hub seeks to transform the skills pipeline leading to UK rocket launch activity.
Through the scheme the academic sector will be supported by UKSA to develop rocketry PhDs, collaborating with STFC as the delivery partner. This opportunity aims to reduce the skills shortage in the space launch sector, ensuring the necessary skills are available in the UK to deliver a commercially sustainable launch market.
PhDs will be delivered with both academic and skills-based elements, providing students with the opportunity to participate in the practical aspects of rocketry and spend time in industry. A key aspect to be included in proposals is industry engagement and support, aiming to demonstrate how students will develop practical skills and experience of directly working with industry partners.
