Stein-Arnold Exploration Fund Opens New Round

The Stein-Arnold Exploration Fund supports research on the antiquities, historical geography, early history or arts in the ancient civilisations of India, China and Iran. In particular, the fund aims to support exploratory research of this type in present day Afghanistan, including the region of ancient Bactria and in the north-western frontier region of India.

Awards last for up to two years, and must only be sought for a clearly defined, discrete piece of research, which will have an identifiable outcome on completion.

Applicants must be of British or Hungarian nationality and be of postdoctoral status (or have comparable experience).

Awards do not generally exceed £2,500, but requests for up to £5,000 may be considered in exceptional circumstances.

Funds may be sought to cover the direct expenses incurred in planning, conducting, and developing the research.

Applications must be submitted by the deadline of 13 January 2021 (5pm UK time).
