RSC Emerging Technologies Competition Now Open

The Emerging Technologies Competition is the Royal Society of Chemistry’s annual initiative for early stage companies and academic entrepreneurs who want to commercialise their technologies to make a global impact.

The competition has four categories:

Health

Food and Drink

Energy and Environment

Enabling Technologies

A cash prize of £20,000 is offered in each of the four categories. Winners are also assigned a Royal Society of Chemistry mentor who will provide ongoing support for one year and winners can be provided an additional £20,000 business acceleration grant (for one year) through discussion with their mentor.

Applications are accepted from university entrepreneurs and small companies who are developing technologies that have a strong chemistry component and fall within one of the competition categories. Applicants must be based in the UK, an EU Member State, Switzerland, Norway, or Iceland.

The deadline for submissions is 12 July 2020.

Finalists will be announced in August 2020, and the competition final will be held on 28 September 2020.

RSC are currently planning to hold a live final; however, government guidelines regarding the COVID-19 pandemic will be continuously monitored and the final will be held in appropriate form following government guidelines at the time.
