Pfizer Request for Proposals in the Areas of Alopecia Areata, Atopic Dermatitis and Vitiligo
$175,000 to support preclinical, clinical and outcomes research to increase medical knowledge in Alopecia Areata, Atopic Dermatitis and/or Vitiligo.
Pfizer Global Medical Grants (GMG) support the global healthcare community’s independent initiatives (research, quality improvement or education) to improve patient outcomes in areas of unmet medical need that are aligned with Pfizer’s medical and/or scientific strategies. Within the framework of Pfizer’s GMG Competitive Grant Programme, organisations are invited to submit an application addressing specific gaps in research, practice or care as outlined in specific Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
The intent of this RFP is to support preclinical, clinical and outcomes research to increase medical knowledge in Alopecia Areata, Atopic Dermatitis and/or Vitiligo.
Areas of Research Focus:
- Alopecia Areata (AA) – Research proposals with the primary objective to increase the understanding of the role of the TEC family kinases and JAK3 kinase in the pathogenesis of AA, as well as the impact of their downregulation or inhibition
- Atopic Dermatitis (AD) – Research and new insights into:
- The role of JAK-STAT pathway and inhibition in AD
- The various phenotypes/endotypes in AD
- Factors influencing barrier function and repair
The influence of the skin and gut microbiome in AD - The factors influencing AD flares
- The impact of Covid-19 on patients with AD
- Vitiligo (Viti) – Research proposals with the primary objective to increase the understanding of the role of the TEC family kinases and JAK3 kinase in the pathogenesis of Viti, as well as the impact of their downregulation or inhibition
Research focusing on Alopecia Areata and Atopic Dermatitis is of higher priority than Vitiligo, at this time, and grants will be distributed accordingly.
The RFP is open worldwide. Only organisations are eligible to receive grants, not individuals or medical practice groups.
The applicant (PI) must have a medical or postdoctoral degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent), an advanced nursing degree (BSN with a MS/PhD), or a degree in Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, or Social Work.
Applicants must be affiliated with a host institution.
Individual projects requesting up to $175,000 (USD) will be considered. Pfizer anticipates awarding up to 15 grants.
Applications should be submitted by the deadline of 16 August 2021 (23:59 Eastern Standard Time).
