New 2020 Deadline for Emily Holmes Memorial Scholarships
Founded in 1759 and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew undertakes science and conservation work to conserve plant and fungal diversity and safeguard the world’s plant life for future generations.
Through the Emily Holmes Memorial Scholarships, Kew offers funding for postgraduate students to work on botanical research projects. It was established in 2002 and is funded via the Amar-Franses & Foster-Jenkins Trust.
Kew is particularly keen to encourage applicants who are finding it difficult to secure funding from other sources and are in a position where a grant would make a significant contribution to their studies.
The scheme is open to postgraduate students who are currently enrolled on a postgraduate course in a research organisation or university. Applications are accepted from any country worldwide and there are no restrictions based on nationality or age.
The scholarship has a total budget of £10,000 per year. The maximum grant size is £3,000 and most grants awarded are in the £1,000 to £3,000 range. Funding is given for academic fees or the cost of carrying out a research project that forms part of a postgraduate course.
Applications must be submitted by the deadline of 28 February 2020.
