Marcel Duchamp Research Grant

Closing Date: 30/11/2023

A grant is available to junior researchers around the world to undertake research projects on the work of Marcel Duchamp at the Schwerin State Museum, Germany.

Staatliche Schlösser, Gärten und Kunstsammlungen Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (State Palaces, Gardens and Art Collections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) brings together Staatliches Museum Schwerin (Schwerin State Museum) and the administration of palaces and gardens in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It organises exhibitions, events and educational opportunities at the Museum, castles and gardens, produces publications in science and research, and engages in networking with other cultural institutions and associations.

The Schwerin State Museum has in its holdings 91 works by Marcel Duchamp and thus one of the largest Duchamp collections in Europe. In 2009, the Museum founded its own Duchamp Research Centre as a way of networking this collection complex internationally and realising new interdisciplinary research projects.

The Marcel Duchamp Research Grant (Marcel Duchamp-Forschungsstipendium) at the Schwerin State Museum is offered to young scholars who wish to explore the oeuvre of Marcel Duchamp, its reception, and the respective societal-artistic context. The aim is the realisation of a research project by the recipient within the framework of the Grant. A connection to the holdings of the Schwerin museum is expected.

The Grant is conceived as a supplement to already existing funds or for the transition to the doctoral or postdoctoral phase.

The Grant bears no residential obligation.
