Invitation of Social Sciences and Humanities Researchers to France – First Call for 2022

Mobility support is available from the FMSH for institutions organising academic events to be held in France in 2022 to invite social science and humanities researchers from outside of France.

The Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (FMSH) aims to foster excellence in humanities and social sciences research by promoting collaboration and by supporting scientific networks, working groups and experimental research teams in France.

FMSH supports the invitation of researchers from other countries to conferences, workshops and other scientific events in France that are dedicated to social science and humanities topics. Its Invitation of Foreign Researchers programme is open to French educational and research institutions organising suitable events to be held in France.

The objectives of this programme are to:

  • Encourage participation by foreign researchers, particularly young researchers, in scientific events organised in France.
  • Fund international symposia, study days and workshops on innovative social science and humanities subjects.

Priority will be given to events that are held in France but are of international scope, and/or that promote interdisciplinary scientific work.

FMSH support is to be used towards travel and accommodation expenses for researchers participating in the event who do not live in France. The maximum value of support for each event, typically covering the invitation of between one and three researchers, is €2,500.

There are usually two calls each year.

Applications to the first call for events to be held in 2022 must be submitted to FMSH before 31 January 2022 (17:00 French time).
