Prize offered by the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation to recognise outstanding English translations of Japanese literature published in the previous year.

The Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation was established in 1985 to further understanding, co-operation and good relations between the peoples of the United Kingdom and Japan by advancing the education of the people of both nations in each other’s culture, society and achievements.

In collaboration with the Society of Authors, the Sasakawa Foundation offers the Translation Prize to recognise outstanding English translations of Japanese-language literary works of general interest and merit.

UK publishers can submit translations published in the previous year for consideration.
