Global Innovation Fund Support for COVID-19 Innovations

The Global Innovation Fund (GIF) is a non-profit innovation fund that invests in solutions to development challenges with potential to meaningfully improve the lives of people in developing countries living on less than the equivalent of $2 per day, especially vulnerable groups such as women, the disabled or minority populations.

Based in the UK, the fund offers grants, loans, equity investments and hybrid capital between $50,000 and $15 million to support the piloting, testing and scaling up of innovations and social solutions – including new business models, policy practices, technologies, behavioural insights or approaches to delivering products and services – that address an important development problem more effectively than existing approaches.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, GIF has added a dedicated application route to support the development of innovations with the potential to contribute to the COVID-19 response – and pandemic recovery – in developing countries.

Any organisation or partnership of organisations may apply, including social enterprises, for-profit companies, non-profit organisations, government agencies, international organisations and researchers in any country.

Projects/innovations should be based in or aim to benefit countries defined by the World Bank as low-income or lower-middle income countries.

Applications on a rolling basis, with no specific deadline to apply.
