GFI Research Program: White Space Collaborations
Closing Date: 01/11/2021Funding for targeted research solutions that address the highest-priority areas for innovation across each segment of the alternative protein value chains.
The Good Food Institute (GFI) is a US-based international 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation established in 2016 that promotes plant-based alternatives to meat, dairy, and eggs as well as cultivated meat. Advancing the science of plant-based and cell-based meat is one of GFI’s primary focus areas.
In 2018, GFI launched a competitive research grant programme to fund open-access research for the development of these technologies. Within the framework of this programme, research funding is offered through three mechanisms: White Space Collaborations, Exploratory Grants and an annual request for proposals for large-scale research.
White Space Collaborations provide funding for targeted research that tackles the ideas outlined in the white space concept notes identified by the Advancing Solutions for Alternative Proteins (ASAP) Initiative.
