GDCh Young Scientist Award in Biochemistry Open for 2024 Applications

Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh – German Chemical Society) is a membership organisation bringing together people working in chemistry and the molecular sciences. The society is designed to promote chemistry in education, research and application. As part of its work, the society supports a number of research projects and publishes highly esteemed professional journals, particularly in applied chemistry. It also presents a number of research awards.

The GDCh Young Scientist Award in Biochemistry (Förderpreis der GDCh-Fachgruppe Biochemie) honours young scientists for outstanding research achievements in the field of biochemistry. This can be evidenced either by a doctoral thesis or a publication in a scientific journal. The award has been presented every year since 2016 by the GDCh-Fachgruppe Biochemie (GDCh Division of Biochemistry).

Eligible are junior researchers based in Germany. For the 2024 award, the scientific publication must have been published between 1 January and 31 December 2023, while the doctoral examination may have taken place a maximum of four years ago at the time of publication. If submitting a doctoral thesis, the thesis must have been completed (including defence) in 2023. Nominations can be made by the academic supervisors, but applications are also possible.

The award is endowed with a sum of €2,000 and an award certificate.
