France’s ANR Issues New COVID-19 Action Research Call

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ANR originally launched a Flash call on the topic in March 2020. Due to the ongoing public health urgency of the situation, a new call has been launched: RA-COVID-19. The purpose of this call is to continue to provide rapid support to scientific communities pursuing action research (recherche-action) work on COVID-19. The call targets urgent and rapid projects with an expected application of results, methods or techniques in society within 3 to 12 months of funding allocation; or projects that require the immediate collection of data specific to the pandemic and post-pandemic period.

The call has the following priority themes:

Epidemiological studies

Pathophysiology of the disease

Infection prevention and control

Ethics and social dynamics

Global challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic

All aspects of the pandemic and the means to control it are within the scope of this call, including: understanding the origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus; infection control, including how best to protect health workers; research and development of treatments research and development of candidate vaccines; and the inclusion of social science in the response to the outbreak.

The following French entities are eligible for funding under this call: research organisations and institutions, enterprises and, more generally, all legal entities provided that their main purpose is research and/or dissemination of knowledge and/or data management.

The maximum amount of funding is €150,000 for a period of 3 to 12 months (without possibility of extension).

This is a rolling call and applications can be submitted until 28 October 2020 (13:00 CET).
