FMSH Invitation of Senior Researchers to France – Second Call for 2021 Now Open

The Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (FMSH) aims to foster excellence in humanities and social sciences research by promoting collaboration and by supporting scientific networks, working groups and experimental research teams in France.

Through its Associate Research Directors programme (DEA – Directeurs d’Études Associés), FMSH encourages senior scientific researchers to visit France for a period of between four and six weeks, to carry out research-related activities such as field studies, bibliographic research and archival work.

Eligible candidates are professors and senior researchers holding a PhD (or equivalent) working in institutions of higher education and research outside of France. Applicants must be no older than 65 at the time of their visit.

Funding consists of a monthly allowance of €3,404 which is awarded to support travel and living expenses. In addition, FMSH provides logistical support such as help with visa applications.

Calls for applications are usually launched three times each year.

Applications to the second call for visits taking place in 2021 must be submitted by 15 December 2020 (17:00 Paris time).

FMSH expects to announce funding decisions by April 2021. Research visits supported through this call must take place between 1 January and 31 October 2021, excluding the academic summer vacation period (15 July – 31 August 2021).
