Expressions of Interest Invited for Seventh Round of EPSRC Manufacturing Fellowships

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) provides Manufacturing Fellowships to help research leaders in the field of Manufacturing Research reach their potential. The seventh round of the Fellowships has been launched and will provide up to five years of funding to support the work of applicants who have an appropriate background and who can express their views on how to utilise their experience in industry to inform future research.

EPSRC is looking to support three to four new Manufacturing Fellows through this call for proposals. Applicants from both early and established career stages are welcomed. EPSRC encourages research proposals from the breadth of the engineering and physical sciences research community that are focused on addressing key challenges in UK manufacturing.

By the end of the award, Fellows are expected to have driven forward:

New research agendas with the potential for transformative impact on manufacturing industries.

A change in the culture within academia by transferring best practice from industry to academia.

In this seventh call, the EPSRC is looking to support either:

Academics who have recently moved from industry (within approximately the last two years); or

Individuals in industry, involved in innovation, looking to move into academia.

Fellowships can be held at any UK university or similar Higher Education Institution (HEI) that is eligible for Research Council funding.

Up to £4 million is available under this call. For part time employees, Fellowships can be of a longer duration than five years, but should be held at a minimum level of 50% full time equivalent (FTE). The Fellowship can fund a package of resources which could involve staff-time, travel and subsistence, and access to equipment.

To apply to the seventh call, applicants must submit an Expression of Interest form by 4 June 2019 (16:00). Applicants are advised to discuss their ideas with the EPSRC well before the closing date.

Full proposals should be submitted between 21 May 2019 and 30 July 2019 (16:00).
