European Charlemagne Youth Prize Opens to Applications

The European Charlemagne Youth Prize aims to encourage the development of European consciousness among young people, as well as their participation in European integration projects. The Prize is awarded annually by the European Parliament and the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen.

Young people aged between 16 and 30 from any EU Member States can submit projects for the European Charlemagne Youth Prize. Projects can be submitted individually or in groups.

Projects should promote European and international understanding; foster the development of a shared sense of European identity and integration; and provide role models for young people living in Europe and offer practical examples of Europeans living together as one community.

There are three prizes:

First prize – €7,500.

Second prize – €5,000.

Third prize – €2,500.

As part of the prize, the three final laureates will be invited to visit the European Parliament (in Brussels or in Strasbourg). Also, representatives of all 28 national winning projects will be invited to the Charlemagne Youth Prize award ceremony in May 2019 in Aachen.

The prizes for the best three projects will be presented by the President of the European Parliament and representative of the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen.

Applications should be submitted via an online registration form by the 31 January 2020 deadline.
