EREF Scholarship Programme Open to Applications
The Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) is a non-profit organisation based in the United States. EREF funds and directs scientific research and educational initiatives for waste management practices to benefit industry participants and the communities they serve.
EREF operates a Scholarship Programme to recognise graduate (Master’s and doctoral) students pursuing excellence in solid waste management research and education. The following Scholarships are awarded each year:

Detachable Container Association Scholarship
Evergreen Surety Bond Scholarship
Fiessinger Doctoral Scholarship
GMI Scholarship
Reinhart Master’s Scholarship
Robert J Riethmiller/PTR Baler and Compactor Scholarship
Robert P Stearns/SCS Engineers Master’s Scholarship
Tom J Fatjo Jr Scholarship
Waste Industries Scholarship Honouring Lonnie C Poole Jr
EREF Scholarship
Recipients are chosen based on credentials and potential contributions to the solid waste industry and its scientific community. The definition of solid waste includes: municipal solid waste, construction and demolition waste, industrial waste (eg coal ash) and WTE ash etc.
Applications will be considered from those who:
Will be or are currently full-time Master’s or doctoral students.
Have a clearly demonstrated interest in solid waste management research.
Applications from students outside the United States or studying abroad will receive equal consideration.
Doctoral scholarships are awarded at a rate of up to $14,400 per year and can be extended for up to three years from the initial award date. Master’s scholarships are awarded at a rate of up to $6,000 per year and can be extended for up to two years from the initial award date.
Applications must be submitted by the deadline of 30 April 2021 (23:59 EST).
