Entries Invited for Wellcome Photography Prize

The Wellcome Photography Prize is intended to celebrate compelling imagery that explores the human side of urgent health challenges. The three competition categories for the 2021 prize are:

Managing mental health.

Fighting infections.

Health in a heating world.

These challenges affect people of all ages and in all parts of the world, although their effects are not felt equally. People and communities around the world are developing ingenious ways to manage mental health, control the spread of infections and adapt to the local health risks of global heating. These are the inspiring stories that the Trust is looking for, either as a single image or a series of images.

Images must have been created after 31 December 2015. Entrants will retain full copyright over their work but images may be used in the context of the prize (in exhibitions, promotions, publications and media coverage, including social media) for three years.

Photographers and other image makers from all disciplines are invited to enter. Any person in any country can enter and collaborative works are accepted. Individuals under the age of 18 must have consent from a parent or legal guardian before submitting images into the prize. The competition is free to enter.

The finalists of each category will receive £1,000. The single image and series winners will each receive £10,000. Awards are given at an awards ceremony and all winning and shortlisted images will go on show at a public exhibition in London.

Award winners will gain opportunities to showcase their work to a variety of audiences and will benefit from extensive international media coverage.

Entries must be submitted by the deadline of 18 January 2021 (23:59 GMT).
