ECOLAS Julie Johnson Kidd Travel Research Fellowship

Closing Date: 15/03/2022

Fellowship to facilitate cooperation between scholars from Liberal Arts and mono-discipline programmes within Europe.

The European Consortium of Liberal Arts and Sciences (ECOLAS), established in 2007, is a non-governmental educational network that proposes to address the central issues surrounding the development of undergraduate (Bachelor degree) education for 21st century Europe within the context of the liberal arts and sciences tradition. Its mission is to foster and disseminate the good practices necessary to sustain the teaching of the ideals and skills necessary for life-long learning and good citizenship inherent in the tradition of liberal arts and sciences education.

The Julie Johnson Kidd Travel Research Fellowship seeks to facilitate cooperation between scholars from Liberal Arts and mono-discipline programmes within Europe. It offers scholarships for joint projects designed between two scholars (one from the Liberal Arts programme and the other from any single discipline department). The two scholars should come from different institutions and special consideration would be given to applicants from different European countries.

The application should outline how key elements of Liberal Arts learning might be implemented within a single-discipline Bachelor programme in the context of a joint course that can be offered to both Liberal Arts students and mono-disciplinary students. The development of the course should be the result of a conversation focused on the ECOLAS Manifesto and its content should reflect the principles outlined therein.
