Closing Date: 22/09/2023

Open Call for non-profit research institutions in Europe to collaborate with EASD on a literature review/evidence synthesis to produce robust, reliable, and up-to-date guidelines that will shape best practice and optimise care in diabetes management.

The European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Guidelines Oversight Committee (GOC) has issued an open call for Evidence Synthesis Teams based in European non-profit research institutions to collaborate on an evidence synthesis exercise to facilitate the production of robust, reliable, and up-to-date guidelines that will shape best practice and optimise care in diabetes management.

The primary role of an Evidence Synthesis Team will be to conduct a systematic review on a guideline-specific topic.

Responsibilities include:

  • Development of a systematic review protocol in collaboration with the Guideline Development Panel (GDP) methodologists, based on the clinical questions (PICOs) formulated by the GDP (approximately five to ten clinical questions per guideline).
  • Conducting a systematic review following the methodological standards of the Cochrane Collaboration.
  • Delivery of detailed technical reports with findings to the GDP within an approximate six-month timeframe, which will be used by the GDP for the development of the guideline document and the formulation of clinical practice recommendations.
  • Evaluation of the certainty of systematic review findings per outcome using the GRADE approach, in collaboration with GDP methodologists.
