Dan David Prize Open for Nominations

The Dan David Prize is an international awards programme endowed by the Dan David Foundation to recognise and promote scientific, technological and humanistic achievements that advance and improve the world and foster universal values of excellence, creativity, justice, democracy and progress.

Prizes of $1 million are awarded for innovative and interdisciplinary research that cuts across traditional boundaries and paradigms and delivers outstanding scientific, technological, cultural or social impact on a global scale.

Prizes are awarded in three categories or ‘time dimensions’ (past, present and future) that represent realms of human achievement:

Past refers to fields that expand knowledge of former times.

Present recognises achievements that shape and enrich society today.

Future focuses on breakthroughs that hold great promise for improvement of the world.

For each annual prize round, a specific field is selected within each time dimension. The selected fields for the 2021 awards are:

Past: History of Health and Medicine – the prize will be awarded to an outstanding individual or organisation making an ongoing, groundbreaking contribution to the history of health and medicine through research and education, including through interdisciplinary exploration and impact on public and scientific discourse.

Present: Public Health – for an individual or organisation making pioneering and prominent advances in the field of public health.

Future: Molecular Medicine – awarded for an individual or organisation making an outstanding and ongoing contribution to the field of molecular medicine.

Nominees may be individuals or organisations anywhere who have made, and continue to make, a singular achievement or series of achievements within the specified field. Nominations may be made by any individual or organisation, with the exclusion of self-nominations. Joint nominations of up to three candidates are also permitted.

The prize is awarded according to merit and without discrimination based on gender, race, religion, nationality, or political affiliation.

Nomination guidelines are given on the Dan David Prize website.

Nominations for the 2021 awards should be submitted by 30 November 2020.
