Coimbra Group 3-Minute-Thesis Competition

A competition for doctoral researchers at Coimbra Group universities to present the results of their research. The competition requires participants to effectively explain their research in three minutes to a non-specialist audience.

The Coimbra Group is an association of European universities committed to creating special academic and cultural ties in order to promote internationalisation, academic collaboration, excellence in learning and research, and service to society. The Group also aims to influence European education and research policy and to develop best practice through the mutual exchange of experience.

The Coimbra Group runs the 3-Minute-Thesis (3MT) Competition for doctoral researchers at Coimbra Group Universities to present the results of their research. The competition requires participants to effectively explain their research in three minutes to a non-specialist audience.

The primary focus of the competition is on the scholarly and scientific research itself. The findings, results and the evidence for it must play a significant role in the presentation.

Coimbra Group Universities will nominate doctoral candidates from their institutions and will vote for the top three entries. The three finalists will compete in a live grand final, and all three will receive a financial prize.
