CNRS ‘Rising Talents’ Recruiting Artificial Intelligence (AI) Project Leaders to France

Grants of up to €1 million for a period of five years are available to recruit early career researchers currently outside of France to lead research teams focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) hosted by CNRS research units in France.

France’s Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS – National Centre for Scientific Research) is a public scientific and technological establishment operating under the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research.

Forming part of France’s National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Choose France: CNRS AI Rising Talents programme provides early career postdoctoral AI researchers outside of France an opportunity to establish and lead a research programme and associated research team in France for a period of five years.

This programme is open to postdoctoral researchers and junior professors with between 2-7 years of experience since obtaining their PhD and currently working outside of France.

Candidates must demonstrate outstanding track records in Machine Learning (ML) and related fields (computer vision, natural language processing, etc). Candidates with strong contributions in ML associated to other sciences are also welcome to apply.

Selected candidates will be assigned to a CNRS unit within France for the duration of their award. Two positions are available under the 2022 programme.

Successful candidates will receive a package of support of up to €1 million for a period of five years, to support salaries as well as an environment for research. Eligible costs include gross employer costs for the awarded candidate and other team-building expenses.

Applications must be submitted through the CNRS job portal between 1 September and 30 September 2022.
