BTFN COVID-19 Supporting Resilience in the Nursing Workforce Grant Programme

BTFN COVID-19 Supporting Resilience in the Nursing Workforce Grant Programme

Established in 2002, the Burdett Trust for Nursing (BTFN) is an independent charitable trust that allocates grants to support the nursing contribution to healthcare.

BTFN’s COVID-19 Supporting Resilience in the Nursing Workforce Grant Programme is inviting nurse-led proposals for evidence-based strategies and interventions that demonstrate innovative and sustainable changes to clinical practice and service redesign as a result of learning gained from the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is recognised that the pandemic is presenting unprecedented challenges for the nursing workforce. This has resulted in and reinforced the desire to examine working practices and service redesign. The effects of the pandemic are also affecting the mental health and wellbeing of nurses.

Evidence-informed strategies and interventions are required to demonstrate nurses leading changes to clinical practice and service delivery. Separate proposals are also required to describe evidence-based support for nurses’ mental health and psychological wellbeing, both in the immediate and long term.

BTFN is keen to receive proposals that reflect a wide range of settings, especially those that are out of hospital and which cover both prevention and care in health and social care.

Application is open to UK charities, non-profit organisations and public bodies that wish to undertake innovative projects to strengthen nursing leadership. Applicant organisations must be:

Properly constituted bodies in the public or voluntary/charity sectors; or

A university or other charitable educational body that provides health-related education, training or research and development.

Projects must be nurse-led and demonstrate an innovative approach.

Grants of between £20,000 and £100,000 for up to one year are available.

Applications must be submitted by the deadline of 12 September 2020 (24:00). Applicants are strongly advised by BTFN to apply well ahead of the deadline.
