BFWG Awards Competition Accepting Applications

The British Federation of Women Graduates (BFWG) was established in 1907 and is an organisation of women with degrees or equivalent qualifications. It works to promote women’s opportunities in education and public life.

BFWG’s Awards Competition rewards outstanding female third year (or part time equivalent) PhD students of any nationality studying at a British university. Funds are awarded on the basis of overall academic excellence and academic achievement.

To be eligible, applicants should:

Be a female postgraduate student who commenced full time doctoral studies (PhD, DPhil, DMus etc) between 1 September 2017 and 31 October 2018 or a part time student at an equivalent stage of her studies.

Be registered at a university in England, Wales or Scotland (not Northern Ireland).

Have their fees for the third year paid, covered by available funds or waived by the university.

Be willing to pay the non-refundable £20 administration fee to apply.

Awards upwards of £1,000 can be made with the average award being around £3,000 and the maximum being £6,000. Up to 10 awards are given each year.
