BES Long-Term Research Grants

Closing Date: 11/09/2024

Funding available in any country for ecological projects (with up to two years of existing data) to be funded for a decade if there is likely to be benefit from growing and developing a dataset over this longer timescale.

The British Ecological Society (BES) is a membership society established in 1913 to advance the science of ecology. BES publishes a range of scientific literature, funds numerous grant schemes and conducts both education and policy work.

BES Long-Term Research Grants are new for 2024 and consist of a small amount of funding each year over a period of 10 years for ecological studies taking place anywhere in the world. The annual cost of a few days of data gathering will be funded.

This grant seeks to enable existing short-term projects with at least one to two years of data to be funded into the long term, where there is likely to be great benefit from growing and developing this dataset over a longer timescale. The aim is to establish a new portfolio of long-term experiments/datasets with relevance to current issues.

Funding can be provided for projects such as ecological restoration, habitat creation, control of alien species and climate change.
