Fellowships for researchers persecuted in their home countries who wish to continue their academic work at an institution in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Baden-Württemberg Stiftung (BW – Baden Württemberg Foundation) is one of the biggest foundations of private law in Germany. It is designed to strengthen and secure the future success of Baden-Württemberg. It promotes education, networking and innovative research in science, industry and society.

The Baden-Württemberg Scholarship Fund for Persecuted Scholars (Baden-Württemberg Fonds für verfolgte Wissenschaftler) is aimed at scientists threatened and persecuted in their home countries due to existential conflicts, such as political persecution and flight from war. The Baden-Württemberg Stiftung offers them the opportunity to continue their academic work at an institution in the German federal state of Baden-Württemberg.

The fund has been providing financial support to particularly qualified academics who are at risk or have already fled for several years. It is intended to place them at universities or non-university research institutions in Baden-Württemberg so that they can pursue their research and teaching in a safe environment.

The programme is carried out in close cooperation with the Scholar Rescue Fund (SRF) of the Institute of International Education (IIE) which arranges, funds and supports fellowships for threatened and displaced scholars at partnering higher education institutions worldwide.
