Autistica and Epilepsy Research UK Launch Fellowship Award

Epilepsy Research UK (ERUK) – a national charity dedicated to funding independent research into epilepsy – has partnered with the UK’s leading autism research charity, Autistica, to offer joint fellowships to address the causes, prevention and clinical management of epilepsy in autistic people.

Epilepsy is one of the leading causes of early death for autistic people, who are more likely to have epilepsies that are resistant to standard treatments. The award will provide research funding for a researcher planning to develop a track record in epilepsy in autism research and seeking to transition into research leadership. Funds will cover the Fellow’s salary, support staff costs, and project running costs.

Eligible applicants must:

Be a graduate in medicine or a related subject.

Be a UK resident.

Be affiliated to a UK academic institution.

Be proposing relevant research.

Applicants who are external to the epilepsy in autism field should include a senior expert in epilepsy and/or autism as collaborator(s) on their proposal.

The Fellowship has a value of up to £300,000 for projects lasting between one and four years. The funding will cover the Fellow’s salary, support staff and project running costs.

Applications should be made by submitting a signed preliminary application to ERUK.

Preliminary applications should be submitted by the 27 September 2019 deadline.
