Applications Open for Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 2020/21
The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) was established in 2009 by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of the Hong Kong University Grants Committee (UGC) to attract the best and brightest students in the world to pursue PhD studies in Hong Kong’s universities. Students can undertake PhD studies in fields ranging from humanities, business and social sciences, to engineering, medical and physical sciences.
Eight research degree-awarding universities take part in the PhD Fellowship scheme and these are:
City University of Hong Kong.
Hong Kong Baptist University.
Lingnan University.
Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Education University of Hong Kong.
Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
University of Hong Kong.
Candidates seeking admission as new full-time PhD students to the eight UGC-funded universities, irrespective of country of origin, prior work experience, and ethnic background are welcome to apply.
Fellowships provide an annual stipend of HK$309,600 and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$12,900 per year for a period of up to three years. Up to 250 PhD Fellowships will be awarded in the 2020/21 academic year.
Candidates should first make an initial application online by the closing date of 2 December 2019.
