ANRS MIE Launches 2023 Call for Thesis Grants on Arboviruses
ANRS MIE has announced the deadline for its 2023 call providing thesis grants on the topic of arboviruses. Applications are welcome from PhD candidates affiliated with a French research organisation.
France’s Agence Nationale de Recherche sur le Sida – Maladies Infectieuses Emergentes (ANRS MIE – National Agency for AIDS and Emerging Infectious Diseases Research) was founded in 1988 by the Ministry of Research and Technology as part of the government’s plan to combat the AIDS epidemic. Its mission is to evaluate, promote, coordinate and fund research on AIDS and human retroviral infections, in collaboration with other French institutions conducting biological and medical research.
The ANRS MIE is offering thesis grants for researchers who focus on arboviruses. Applications are welcome from PhD candidates of any nationality who are affiliated with a French research structure, either public or private. Candidates must be aged 40 or under at the time of application and must hold a Master’s 2 (or equivalent) degree.
For the 2023 call, ANRS MIE has identified the following priority themes:
- Animal component of arboviral infections: study of the animal aspect of zoonosis/study of a strictly animal arbovirosis that may serve as an emergence model.
- Interventional research in population health regarding human arboviroses on the mainland and/or in overseas territories: vector control, control of the progression of arboviral risk and vaccine usage.
Funding will take the form of a subsidy forwarded to the host institution in order to establish a temporary work contract for the successful candidate. The funding will cover the employment costs of the candidate for the duration of the project. The funding period is 36 months.
Applications must be submitted by 31 May 2023.
