2022 ERA-NET NEURON Excellent Paper in Neuroscience Award Open
Annual award for early-career researchers with their sole first author research articles in international peer review journals.
The Excellent Paper in Neuroscience Award (EPNA) is open to early-career researchers can apply with their sole first author research articles in international peer review journals. The topic of the article must be relevant to disease-related, translational, neuroscience and the work must be done in an ERA-NET NEURON participant country.
The 2022 EPNA focuses on Sensory Disorders. The article should contribute progress on important questions related to sensory disorders of neural origin and their impact on the nervous system, including all the sensory modalities as well as multisensory dysfunction.
The applicant must be:
- Sole first Author in the proposed publication.
- Affiliated in a call partner country at the time of publication.
- Less than five years from PhD dissertation at the date of publication.
- Eligible breaks include parental leaves, long-term illness and national service. Other legal or personal circumstances are considered on a case-by-case basis. Concerning parental leave, national rules apply, or 12 months per child, whichever is the greatest.
For the 2022 Award, papers must have been published between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2021. In case of equal first co-authorship, the award may be split if all authors meet the eligibility criteria for the award.
The 2022 call partner countries are: Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, United Kingdom.
An award of €3,000 is made for the best proposal and the winner will be invited to give an Excellent Paper in Neuroscience Award special lecture during the NEURON Midterm Symposium taking place in Madrid, Spain, on 18-19 January 2023. The award and travel costs related to the lecture will be covered by ERA-NET NEURON. The winner may also be invited to present in ERA-NET NEURON events and contribute to the planning of the future support activities of the early-career researchers (ECR) or other activities within the NEURON network.
Proposal submissions are open until 30 September 2022 (17:00 UTC-GMT).
