The Royal Institute of Philosophy is a charitable organisation devoted to the advancement of philosophy in all its branches. The Institute organises and promotes teaching, discussion and research of all things philosophical. Its activities include publishing the journals Philosophy and Think, organising public lectures and providing funding for educational purposes.

Launched in 2023, the Nayef Al-Rodhan International Prize in Transdisciplinary Philosophy is a book prize that recognises the most original philosophical research that transcends academic disciplines.

Submissions for the prize will be received from publishers based anywhere in the world, in respect of philosophical publications from the previous three years, based on research from philosophers, neuroscientists, social scientists, or from other disciplines, that crosses academic boundaries and furthers understanding of the key challenges facing the world today.

The scope of the prize extends to researching disruptive technologies, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, and also frontier risks such as climate change, synthetic biology, super-intelligence, brain-computer interface, outer space, and the future of domestic and global governance.

Prize submissions will be assessed for academic merit and rigour by a panel of highly respected academics and practitioners.
