Funding for PhD students and early-career researchers working in the field of marine science in Canada and Scotland to undertake reciprocal exchanges to develop collaborations and mutual research interests.
The Marine Alliance for Science and Technology Scotland (MASTS) is a consortium of universities and other partner institutions that pool their resources and research capacity to promote and support excellence in marine science in Scotland. MASTS is mainly funded by its partner institutions, with a contribution from the Scottish Funding Council, and is currently in Phase II until July 2022.
MASTS provides a range of funding to support researchers and staff at its member institutions conducting research and research-related activities.
The Scotia-Canadian Ocean Research Exchanges (SCORE) scheme, funded in partnership with the Ocean Frontier Institute (OFI) in Canada, will provide funding for up to ten reciprocal exchange visits for PhD students and early-career researchers based at MASTS or OFI institutions.
The purpose of the grants is to promote collaboration between marine researchers in Canada and Scotland with a view to developing durable research links and promoting marine research in areas of mutual interest.
Priority will be given to new collaborations and proposals that will result in clear outputs such as the generation of a proposal, research results or publication.
For the first application round, applicants will be expected to address subjects relevant to UN Sustainable Development Goals and with reference to COP26 as a legacy.
