Korea Foundation Next Generation Policy Experts Network Programme

Funding for research institutes and think tanks from outside of Korea and the US for projects and opportunities to support young professionals to become policy experts on Korea-related issues in the future.

The Korea Foundation is a non-profit public diplomacy organisation affiliated with Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its mission is to promote better understanding of Korea within the international community, academic and otherwise, and increase cooperation and interaction between Korea and the rest of the world through exchange and diplomacy programmes.

The Korea Foundation sponsors the Next Generation Policy Experts Network Programme which aims to foster a new generation of policy experts in Korea-related issues. The Foundation is looking to partner with research institutes and think tanks outside of Korea and the US with backgrounds in politics and international relations, that can provide opportunities for young professionals to expand their knowledge of contemporary Korea-related issues.

Projects can be in-person or virtual and must fall into one of the following categories:

  • A series of conferences/seminars/workshops on Korea-related issues.
  • Short-term academic mentoring projects pairing senior experts with early career professionals.
  • A combination of the above mentioned projects, or other relavant projects, to train the next generation of policy experts on Korea and East Asia.

Participants in the programme should be trainees, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, or faculty in the early stages of their career.
