Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme
Closing Date: 15/06/2023
The Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme supports higher education cooperation between countries in Africa. The programme provides support for consortia of African Higher Education Institutions and scholarship opportunities for African trainees, students and staff.
The Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme programme is directly managed by the European Commission through the Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), under the supervision of the Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development and in collaboration with the African Union Commission Department for Human Resources, Science and Technology.
The scheme is a continuation of the related previous programmes, the Intra-ACP Academic Mobility Scheme 2010-2013 and Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme 2016-2020 and forms part of the EU-Africa Global Gateway Investment Package’s flagship initiative Youth Mobility for Africa that promotes youth exchanges and mobility in Africa and between Africa and Europe, and contributes to strengthening Africa’s higher education space.
The scheme is the EU’s programme to encourage international learning mobility across the African continent. The programme provides support for consortia of African Higher Education Institutions and scholarship opportunities for African trainees, students and staff.
The overall objective of the programme is to contribute to the economic, social and human development of Africa by improving the skills and competences of individuals in different areas, in particular those linked to climate change and green transitioning.
The programme’s specific objectives are to:
- Promote inclusive learning mobility opportunities, with a focus on the participation of women and on climate change.
- Increase the employability and entrepreneurship of higher education students and trainees, specifically in green jobs.
- Improve the quality, relevance, internationalisation and climate change focus of higher education in Africa.
This call is open to all themes/subject areas relevant to the action’s objectives. An established percentage of indicatively 40% of the selected projects will address the thematic fields related to environment and climate change with a focus on adaptation and mitigation.
The selected consortia will organise activities to implement the mobility of Master and Doctoral level students, trainees (students enrolled in a Bachelor, Master or PhD programme), and academic and administrative university staff within Africa.
Projects should normally last 48 months.
