Gesellschaft der Freunde und Förderer der HHU e.V. (GFFU – Society of the Friends of the University of Duesseldorf) is a foundation administrator, project supervisor and charitable organisation that supports a number of charitable projects and initiatives with a focus on research and education in Duesseldorf, Germany. As part of this work, GFFU also presents several research awards.
The Heigl Award is presented annually for empirical or conceptual work from the field of (psychodynamically-oriented) psychotherapy research with a quantitative or qualitative orientation.
It was created by Annelise Heigl-Evers and Franz Seraph Heigl and is funded by the Heigl Foundation. GFFU acts as awarding institution.
