Funding is available for early career scientific researchers from around the world to pursue interdisciplinary research projects in an international setting.
The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is a life sciences laboratory with six sites across Europe. EMBL conducts biological research, offers advanced training for students and scientists and provides new technologies for a range of scientific and experimental services.
EMBL runs the EIPOD-LinC Fellowship Programme for early career researchers conducting interdisciplinary research projects. The programme is designed to support the increasing diversity of career paths in Europe’s research landscape providing researchers with the mentoring, training and career development support needed to become leaders in academia, industry and beyond.
Applicants must develop and submit an interdisciplinary research project that allows them to gain new interdisciplinary skills. The projects will be hosted by an EMBL project host and one or more project partners at EMBL. External partners from academia, industry and clinics may also participate.
The interdisciplinary research training fellows receive in the lab is complemented by a portfolio of transferable skills courses. Fellows complete workshops on open science initiatives and research integrity/ethics. The also complete three additional trainings of their choice based upon individual needs and interests. The electives may come from EMBL’s Professional Training and Development programme and the EMBL Complementary Scientific Skills training programme or other training providers within and outside of EMBL.
