Einstein Starting Researcher Programme

Closing Date: 15/11/2023

Funding is available for starting researchers around the world to carry out individual or joint research projects at a Berlin institution in Germany.

Founded in 2009 by the State of Berlin, the Einstein Foundation Berlin is dedicated to the promotion of science and research with a focus on the city of Berlin. It funds cutting-edge science and research in Berlin and helps to strengthen the city’s reputation as one of the world’s foremost research hotspots. In addition to its endowment, the foundation also receives state funding.

The Einstein Starting Researcher programme allows eligible Berlin institutions to recruit and retain outstanding researchers by giving Einstein Starting Researchers time at a crucial career stage to focus on their research project. There are no restrictions in terms of the research discipline or the topic of the project.

Einstein Starting Researchers can, but do not have to be affiliated with collaborative research structures. They may also collaborate with non-university research institutes.

Applicants can teach during their time as Einstein Starting Researcher if they wish to gain additional teaching experience.
