The Challenger Society for Marine Science, sponsored by the National Oceanography Centre and Plymouth Marine Laboratory, is a learned society for marine scientists in the UK. The objectives of the Society include advancement of the study and application of marine science through research and education, contribution to government policy on the development of marine science and provision of support for students of marine science and early-career researchers.
The Challenger Travel Awards provide funding for postgraduate students attending conferences or participating in cruises and fieldwork. Priority is given to students who have had a paper or poster accepted for a recognised conference.
