BIOREME Fellowship Call
Closing Date: 30/06/2022
Funding to support the salary of a postdoctoral researcher for one year to carry out research in one of the Integrating data-driven Biophysical Models into Respiratory Medicine (BIOREME) network’s priority theme areas.
Integrating data-driven Biophysical Models into Respiratory Medicine (BIOREME) is an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)-funded UK interdisciplinary network dedicated to catalysing new research partnerships that use mathematics to solve problems in respiratory medicine. The network seeks to facilitate new technologies and treatments, as well as better understanding of lung disease.
BIOREME works across the following three priority areas:
- Improving treatment delivery and clinical design.
- Developing the next generation of clinical lung function measurement.
- Modelling the acute and long-term physiological effects of COVID-19.
BIOREME offers the Fellowship funding call to fund one-year of salary for a postdoctoral researcher to carry out research in one of BIOREME’s priority theme areas. The aim of the call is to help early career researchers establish their own distinct research area. It is directed at PhD graduates from all relevant disciplines who want to branch out and begin to work more independently.
Fellows are expected to gather materials that will support larger follow-on grant applications (eg fellowship, grant, or collaboration bids) during their one-year fellowship. Applicants for the BIOREME Fellowship will therefore have to lay out a clear plan of how they will build towards strong future funding bids.
Fellowship activities will vary from applicant to applicant, but may include eg preliminary data collection, feasibility studies, model development, collaborative grant writing etc. Projects must be able to demonstrate interdisciplinary nature and should preferably involve at least one other institution or organisation in addition to the host organisation. Projects must also be able to demonstrate how beneficiaries will be engaged and how the likelihood of impact will be increased.
Research Fellowships must begin between 1 October 2022 and 1 March 2023.
BIOREME will fund one Fellowship a year for three years.
