Grants to support research projects in Economics, with a view to promoting the interchange between the scientific and academic communities and the Banco de Portugal, and contributing towards the improvement of theoretical and applied research in Portugal.
The Bank of Portugal (Banco de Portugal) is the central bank of the Portuguese Republic. The bank was founded by royal charter in 1846, by a merger of the Bank of Lisbon (Banco de Lisboa) and the National Insurance Company (Companhia Confiança Nacional), making it one of the oldest banks in continuous operation in the world. It is a full member of the Eurosystem and the European System of Central Banks.
Within the framework of the ‘Grants for Visiting Researchers’ programme, grants are available to support research projects in Economics, with a view to promoting the interchange between the scientific and academic communities and the Banco de Portugal, and contributing towards the improvement of theoretical and applied research in Portugal.
Preferred topics include monetary and labour economics, financial intermediation, banking, and studies on the Portuguese economy.
Throughout the grant’s research period, visiting researchers must carry out their activities within the premises of the Economic Research Department of Banco de Portugal (DEE).
