Alzheimer’s Research UK Inspire Fund – Public Engagement Grant

Closing Date: 04/08/2022

Funding for projects that engage the public with the topic of dementia and with the impactful research being conducted into the condition.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is a UK charity dedicated to funding world-class research to find preventions, treatments and a cure for dementia.

Alzheimer’s Research UK’s Inspire Fund forms part of the charity’s work to engage and empower the public by improving understanding of dementia and sharing the benefits of dementia research. The Fund will specifically support projects that engage the public with the topic of dementia and the life-changing research going on into the condition.

The scheme seeks to foster relationships between communities and researchers. Applicants are strongly encouraged to forge links with collaborators or groups to strengthen ideas. In recognition of the fact that potential applicants may not have existing links or contacts, Alzheimer’s Research UK will facilitate relationship building through the applications process.

Inspire Fund projects must engage with under-served audiences on the topic of dementia, such as minority ethnic communities, marginalised or socioeconomically disadvantaged groups. They must also meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Build knowledge and engage the public with the topic of brain health.
  • Engage and create dialogue with people about the progress being made in biomedical dementia research.
  • Highlight the value of research volunteers and reduce barriers to research participation.

Projects can use a range of methods to engage with their audience.

Projects are generally expected to last up to 12 months.
