The Association Française pour l’Etude du Quaternaire (AFEQ – French Association for the Study of the Quaternary) was founded in 1962 to promote the study of the Quaternary period. It is a multidisciplinary group that brings together representatives of all scientific fields concerned by this period: archaeologists, botanists, climatologists, geographers, geologists, geophysicists, palaeontologists, palynologists, soil scientists and zoologists. The Association is open to all researchers, French or foreign.
The Franck Bourdier Thesis Prize is awarded every two years to the author of an excellent thesis in the field of quaternary science, defended in a French or foreign university or research organisation.
